About Mother Moon Mentors
Mother Moon is a Melbourne-based doula training and mentoring community created by two best friends, Ashleigh and Brony, who share a deep love for birth, education, connection and the magic of holding space for others.
With more than two decades of combined experience as doulas and support workers, and as certified educators, Ashleigh and Brony bring together extensive real-world experience, professional education and a genuine passion for supporting the next generation of doulas.
We train and mentor doulas across Australia, supporting people to step into birth and postpartum work with knowledge, confidence, practical skills and a whole lot of heart. Our signature Luna Essence Birth & Postpartum Doula Training combines evidence-informed education with the intuitive, relational and deeply human nature of doula work. Students learn not just what to do, but how to listen, communicate, respond and support families to make informed decisions and feel confident expressing their own preferences throughout pregnancy, birth and the early postpartum days.
Our training is designed to take you beyond the classroom. Luna Essence is delivered as a hybrid of virtual and in-person learning, with three sessions held online before coming together in Melbourne for a final hands-on day of learning, connection, shared lunch and placenta education. Once the theory is complete, students are supported through a practical experience with a family as a student doula. With personalised one-on-one mentoring throughout the experience, you can put your learning into practice, build confidence and discover what it really means to be a doula. After completing your practical experience and debriefing with your mentor, you’re ready to graduate and begin your journey as a doula.
And our support doesn’t stop at graduation.
Mother Moon offers ongoing mentoring and debriefing for doulas as they navigate the realities of doula work – whether you’ve trained with us or somewhere else. From unpacking a challenging birth to building your confidence, developing your business or simply having someone who understands, our mentoring can happen from anywhere in Australia, helping you keep learning and growing wherever your doula journey takes you.
Our Mother Moon-trained student doulas are based throughout Melbourne and across Australia, creating a growing community of passionate doulas who can support new and expectant mothers in their own communities with compassionate, non-judgemental emotional, practical and informational support.
Our work also extends beyond birth and postpartum. Through our sister arm, Ever May – Your Community Collective, we are deeply passionate about supporting families through the death of a baby, providing compassionate care and connection during one of life’s most devastating transitions. Together, Mother Moon and Ever May reflect our belief that families deserve knowledgeable, compassionate support through all of life’s profound beginnings, endings and everything in between.
We’re not just training doulas. We’re growing a community – one doula, one family and one moment at a time.
