About Mother Doula Sydney
Hi, I’m Portia, the doula behind Mother Doula Sydney. I’m a certified pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula, a mum of two, and someone who believes that every mother deserves to feel supported, cared for and confident as she navigates pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
With over 13 years of experience supporting individuals and families in the disability sector, I bring a calm, compassionate and practical approach to my work. I’m passionate about providing genuine, non-judgemental support and helping families feel comfortable, informed and listened to.
I know that welcoming a baby brings so much change. Whether you’re preparing for your first birth, adjusting to life with a newborn or finding your feet as your family grows, having the right support around you can make a real difference. I believe motherhood was never meant to be experienced without a village, and I’m here to be part of yours.
How I can support you
Pregnancy and Birth Support
From preparing for birth to being by your side during labour, I offer personalised emotional and practical support. Through antenatal visits, birth preparation and continuous labour support, I help you explore your preferences, feel informed about your choices and approach your birth with confidence. During labour, I provide comfort measures, encouragement and a calm, familiar presence alongside your chosen care team.
Postpartum Support
The early weeks with a newborn are a time when mothers deserve to be nurtured too. I provide in-home support to help you rest, recover and settle into your new rhythm. This might look like helping with newborn care and settling, providing feeding support within my scope, preparing nourishing snacks, lending a hand with light household tasks or simply offering a listening ear when you need one.
Motherhood Support
Support doesn’t have to end after the fourth trimester. As your family grows and changes, I can help with everyday routines, sibling transitions and the practical challenges of motherhood, providing an extra pair of hands when you need them.
My approach is gentle, flexible and centred around you. I’m not here to tell you how to parent or what choices to make. I’m here to listen, offer reassurance and support you in finding what works for your family.
Based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, I support mothers and families across Northern Sydney.
I’d love to connect, hear your story and see how I can support you through this chapter of motherhood.
