Parent Thread
About Parent Thread
Parent Thread is a community-centred motherhood and wellbeing organisation based in the Geelong and Surf Coast region of Victoria, created to support mothers through connection, community and evidence-informed care. Founded by Eleisha Casanas, Parent Thread was born from both professional experience and lived experience of motherhood, with a strong focus on reducing isolation and helping women feel genuinely seen and supported during pregnancy, postpartum and early parenting.
Eleisha has a background in psychology, loneliness and social isolation research, community education and program development, and has spent many years working in the mental health and social connection space. Through this work, she became increasingly aware of the significant impact motherhood can have on identity, wellbeing and social connection, and how many women are quietly navigating these transitions without the support village they need.
Parent Thread offers warm, inclusive and low-pressure spaces that prioritise authentic connection over perfection. Our work is grounded in the understanding that social health and community are essential parts of wellbeing for both mothers and families.
One of Parent Thread’s core offerings is Bloom and Connect™, a facilitated prenatal wellbeing and connection program designed to support women during pregnancy through meaningful conversation, reflection, learning and community-building. Bloom and Connect™ combines evidence-informed wellbeing approaches with gentle facilitated connection, creating spaces where expectant mothers can build relationships, prepare for the transition into parenthood and feel more supported before their baby arrives.
Alongside local programs and community events, Parent Thread also provides consultancy, speaking and training services across Australia for organisations, councils, maternal and child health settings, community groups and professionals interested in strengthening social connection and maternal wellbeing in their communities.
Practitioner training for Bloom and Connect™ will also be launching in the future, supporting facilitators and organisations to deliver connection-focused prenatal programs within their own local communities. At its heart, Parent Thread exists to help mothers and families feel more connected, supported and held through the transitions of parenthood, while contributing to stronger and more connected communities more broadly.

Helping Children Navigate Grief
Children experience grief differently than adults. They may not have the words to express their feelings, so they show them in other ways—through tears, anger, or even unexpected silliness. Some days, they may seem perfectly fine, and the next, a wave of sadness can hit them out of nowhere. It’s all part of how they process the big feelings they don’t fully understand yet.

Finding Calm within the Chaos
This idea flips the script. Instead of seeing happiness, peace or calm as something that only exists in the future, tied to the achievement of a goal, it invites you to find joy and satisfaction in the present moment. It’s a reminder that your feelings aren’t just an outcome of a milestone, but they are a tool for creating it.
